Statement plants for your home

Statement plants for your home

Plants truly add a touch of magic to your home. They bring life to a space with their beautiful colors, interesting shapes and healing properties. Because there are so many varieties of plants and so much to choose from, you are really spoiled for choice. There will be a plant for everyone, depending on the mood you are going for.

Some plants have giant leaves, some have interesting colors and others have sculptural shapes and, if you want to make a statement in your space, these are all things you can look for to achieve that. With that in mind, these are some bold plants that will add a lot of character to a room.

Fiddle Leaf Fig

This is a tree charged with spiritual meaning, as it represents our nature as nurturing co-creators. It inspires us to share our creative energy and to create new things. Even though this plant is known for being a bit temperamental, if well taken care of they will give very big, shiny, leathery leaves, making them stand out no matter where you put them. The tree can grow up to 6 feet tall and the leaves up to 20 inches long if it’s planted in the right pot and placed in the right environment. It requires bright, indirect sunlight, well-drained soil that should be watered once its dry. Something to note is that this plant is toxic to cats, dogs and humans and while it isn’t deadly, you should really be careful and place it out of reach of kids and pets.

Monstera Deliciosa

This plant has a beautiful meaning, representing respect, longevity and respect. It makes a stunning houseplant due to its big leaves. It differs from the previous two in the sense that the leaves are more sculptural and geometrical feel to them, given its fenestrated shape. The tree can grow up to 10 feet tall, giving 3 feet long leaves, so this will for sure make a statement in your space. This plant needs bright, indirect sunlight and well-drained soil, consequently, you should only water it once it’s dry. This is also slightly toxic to people, cats and dogs, so we recommend you keep it out of reach. At Plant The Future we offer this beautiful plant as a Kokedama, which is a Japanese art form that represents the concept of Wabi Sabi, which looks to find beauty in imperfection.

Swiss Cheese Plant

This plant serves as a reminder to be honorable and to respect our elders, very much like its cousin, Monstera Deliciosa. However, The Swiss Cheese plant is much more dramatic and theatrical. This plant gets its name for its big, fenestrated leaves. The holes in the leaves are created by sunlight, giving it a Swiss cheese appearance. These wholes in the leaves allow for light to come in, making interesting light pattern in the space where you place it. They require bright, indirect sunlight and a consistently moist soil, but not wet. If given the right conditions, they will grow up to 8 feet tall. Check out our Swiss Cheese Plant Kokedama.

Janet Craig

This plant is a great option to have indoors because it purifies the air from toxins and impurities. It is also very striking, given that it grows very straight and erect, which makes it very elegant and yet very exotic. This plant is extremely easy to care for, making it a very popular option. Its only requirements are bright, indirect sunlight and water only when soil is dry, which depending on the environment in which you put it in, should be around once a week. We invite you to go to our website to check out our Janet Craig offerings.

Plant The Future wants to bring you closer to Mother Earth, which is why we turn to Biophilic Design to integrate modern living and nature, to create spaces that calm your spirit and heal your body and soul.
