Ancient Sea White Amphora by Consuelo Becerra

In Ancient Sea White Amphora, Consuelo Becerra revisits the archetypal amphora through the language of erosion, accumulation, and imagined history. Its elongated silhouette retains traces of the classical vessel, while an irregular, encrusted surface appears to overtake the form, suggesting an artifact transformed through prolonged contact with the sea.

The contrast between its smoother lower body and increasingly textured upper structure creates a sense of material evolution, as though the object has been gradually altered by mineral and marine growth. Created for the Eden Kampong Exhibition, the work exists between antiquity and invention—a sculptural relic that considers how time, nature, and memory reshape familiar forms.
