Ancient Sea White Vase 2 by Consuelo Becerra

In Ancient Sea White Vase 2, Consuelo Becerra approaches the vessel as an artifact transformed by imagined natural processes. Its rounded body is interrupted by an irregular opening and projecting forms, while richly worked textures spread across the surface like marine encrustations, mineral deposits, and traces of erosion.

The pale, monochromatic finish accentuates the contrast between smoother expanses and densely accumulated relief, allowing light to reveal the work’s complex topography. Created for the Eden Kampong Exhibition, Ancient Sea White Vase 2 occupies the space between vessel, geological specimen, and archaeological relic—an object that appears to carry the material memory of an imagined sea.
